June 13, 2026
Thailand beat Indonesia by six wickets in the semi-finals of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup as Thipatcha Putthawong broke a world record.
The left-arm spinner is now the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20Is as she took her 162nd wicket in her 104th match when she had Lie Qiao caught at mid-off. She is now one wicket ahead of India’s Deepti Sharma.
Thailand were outstanding in the field as Indonesia were bowled out for 66 with Phannita Maya finishing off the innings with a hat-trick.
Player of the match Phannita had figures of 3 for 13 and Sunida Chaturongrattana took 2 for 17 to keep her place as leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
Thailand’s chase looked comfortable as they won in 12 overs but the top four batters were out with the score on 43 for 4 after 10 overs.
Chanida Sutthiruang and Aphisara Suwanchonrathi were fearless and the last 24 runs came in just 2 overs.
Thailand had been beaten in the semi-finals in 2024 when chasing 71 so this was a much better effort.
United Arab Emirates were the team to beat Thailand in the 2024 edition of the Premier Cup and they will provide stiff opposition in Saturday’s final as they overwhelmed Hong Kong, China by 10 wickets in the second semi-final.
