Thailand beat defending champions United Arab Emirates by six wickets to claim the ACC Women’s Premier Cup.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl first Thailand were under pressure for the first time as openers Esha Oza and Theertha Satish shared a partnership of 52 in less than 9 overs.
Onnicha Kamcomphu took the first wicket as Satish was caught and bowled for 18 and Suleeporn Laomi took the crucial wicket of Oza for 31 lbw to a half-tracker.
UAE batted steadily to reach 84 for 2 but 7 wickets then fell for 12 with three run outs and three wickets to Thipatcha Putthawong when she bowled the final over.
It was a fabulous fightback by Thailand to restrict UAE to 96 for 9 but could the batters get the job done? They had failed to chase totals of under 100 the last three times they had batted second against UAE.
This time it was to be a different story as the openers laid a solid base then player of the match Nannapat Khonkaroenkai made a composed unbeaten 36 from 32 balls to see her side home with four wickets down and 1.5 overs in hand.
Esha Oza was named player of the tournament for 246 runs and 12 wickets but Thipatcha Putthawong was leading wicket-taker with 16 as she extended her world record total to 165 wickets
Captain Naruemol Chaiwai singled out Phannita Maya for her contributions with bat and ball as Thailand could be delighted with 11 wins out of 11 on their trip to Malaysia.
