Thailand Women’s batting line-up had a chance to put things right as they again faced Pakistan in the quarter-finals of the Asian Games held in Nagoya, Japan.
The match was reduced to 11 overs but Thailand’s batters made a great effort to reach a total of 92 for 4 as Nannapat Khoncharoenkai hit a brilliant 49 in 38 balls with 7 fours.
Could Thailand beat Pakistan for the second time in T20Is?
Pakistan’s openers hit 33 from the first 3 overs but Onnicha Kamchomphu turned the match Thailand’s way with 3 for 12 in 2 overs and Suleeporn Laomi backed her up with 1 for 3 in 2 overs.
Pakistan needed 44 from the last 4 overs and Onnicha was chosen to bowl a third over but 25 runs in the eighth over put Pakistan back on top.
Three more wickets fell as Pakistan batted recklessly but four were needed off the last over and four singles were calmly taken.
Pakistan had won by three wickets with two balls to spare but Thailand had shown that the more they play full member sides the better they will get.
