India Women won the Asia Cup for the eighth when they beat holders Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final in Dubai.
Thailand won one out of three group matches as they beat Hong Kong, China by six runs then lost to India and Pakistan.
Thailand’s batting struggled throughout but their bowling during the tournament was outstanding as Thipatcha Putthawong again became the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20Is before Deepti Sharma reclaimed the record.
Onnicha Kamchomphu and Suleeporn Laomi also now have well over 100 wickets and three more bowlers in the team have at least 75 wickets.
Suleeporn took three wickets against both India and Pakistan and remarkably the team have taken over 700 wickets between them in T20Is.
If the batting could improve Thailand would beat full member teams on a regular basis.
Their next chance comes soon when they face Pakistan in the Asian Games in Japan.
