The Thailand girls have been enjoying a highly successful tour to Malaysia as they first  shared the title in the ACC Women’s U19  Premier Cup and have now won their first three matches in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 world Cup Asia Qualifier to reach the semi-finals.

Seven wins and one no result is a fine record for a young team and they won group B in the Asia Qualifier by beating Kuwait, Myanmar and Bhutan by following the same plan in each match as they bowled first and chased down low targets.

Kuwait were restricted to 50 for 8 and Thailand won by 9 wickets before Myanmar were bowled out for 36 which led to victory by 7 wickets.

Bhutan provided stiffer opposition as they made 49 for 6 but made Thailand work hard for their win as six wickets were lost in the chase.

The Thailand bowling attack has been very economical throughout the competition and the pressure applied has produced many run run outs.

The spinners have all bowled well with Kewarin Saechao and Patcharaporn Sornthra have both taken five wickets at low cost.

Malaysia will provide stronger opposition for Thailand in the semI-finals on Tuesday afternoon while UAE will play Bhutan.

It is highly likely that Thailand will again face UAE in the final with the winner of that contest qualifying for the next ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Nepal and Bangladesh
