THAILAND AND UAE DECLARED JOINT WINNERS OF ACC WOMEN’S U19 PREMIER CUP
July 20, 2026
Following their fine performance in the ACC U19 Women’s Premier Cup where they shared the title with UAE, Thailand have remained in Malaysia to compete in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.
Thailand are looking to win the tournament so that they qualify for the next Women’s T20 World Cup which will be held in Nepal and Bangladesh next year.
It would be the first time that Thailand make it to the final stages of the Under-19 Women’s World Cup and another chance for them to match the achievements of the senior team.
Eight teams are competing for one place in the World Cup and there is an iniitial group stage where UAE, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Qatar play each other in Group A and Thailand take on Bhutan, Kuwait and Myanmar in Group B.
The top two teams in each group reach the semi-finals and the winners of the two semi-finals will contest the final.
Thailand and UAE are favourites to reach the final as they were both unbeaten in the Premier Cup but Thailand are without Aphisara Suwanchonrathi who was the player of the tournament in the Premier Cup as she is over the age limit for this competition.
Thailand bowled superbly in the Premier Cup and were sharp in the field but their new-look batting line-up will also have to play its part.
Good luck girls and enjoy another week of competitive cricket.
