Thailand have remained in Malaysia to take part in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup with the top four teams qualifying for the next Women’s Asia Cup.

Thailand’s first match came against Mongolia and all eyes were on Thipatcha Putthawong who had taken 149 wickets in her 98 T20Is and Mongolia duly obliged by choosing to bat first after winning the toss.

Thipatcha went wicketless in her first over as she opened the bowling with Phannita Maya and two singles and a wide were conceded.

Her second over was a classic as her 150th wicket came second ball as she bowled Anujin Gansukh. She then completed a c
perfect hat-trick with a stumping and a caught and bowled.

She made it four wickets in five balls by again hitting the stumps as she finished a four-wicket maiden.

Another maiden followed as she continued and she took her fifth wicket from the last ball of her spell to achieve the brilliant figures of 4 overs 3 maidens and 5 wickets with 22 dot balls.

Mongolia were dismissed for 19 and Thailand won by 10 wickets in 2.2 overs.

Thipatcha is the fourth women to take 150 wickets in T20Is and by far the fastest to reach the landmark as she has played only 99 matches.

She follows in the footsteps of the legendary Nattaya Boochatham who claimed. 126 wickets at an average of 10.89 but not to be forgotten is her current team-mate Onnicha Kamcomphu who has 144 wickets herself.

Thipatcha now has 154 wickets at an average of 9.08 as spin bowling has been a vital ingredient in Thailand’s recipe for success.
