THAI GIRLS STORM INTO QUARTER-FINALS AFTER TWO OUTSTANDING WINS

Thailand raced to an eight-wicket victory over Qatar and not only did they reach the semi-finals of the ACC Women’s U19 Premier Cup but they also qualified for the Women’s U19 Asia Cup.
Thailand won the toss and asked Qatar to bat first and Pattamawadee Suriya took two wickets with the new ball to reduce Qatar to 7 for 3. Krisheta Savanakumar played a fine captain’s innings of 34 in 53 balls to see her side through to 82 for 8.
Thailand were under pressure when they lost a wicket in the first over but Aphisara Suwanchonrathi came to the crease in prime form.
She was dropped twice early on but played another brilliant innings as she was unbeaten on 46 from 27 balls when she hit the winning runs.
Thailand were 83 for 2 in 9.1 overs and Aphisara now has a batting average of 169 as she has won player of the match awards in all three matches.
Thailand play Indonesia in the first semi-final while UAE face Nepal in the second semi-final as the tournament comes to an exciting climax with the top four teams still all unbeaten.
