THAILAND WILL FACE UAE IN ACC WOMEN’S U19 PREMIER CUP FINAL

The final of the ACC Women’s U19 Premier Cup in Kuala Lumpur was abandoned with UAE ‘s score standing on 54 for 6 in 12.4 overs when rain forced the players from the field.
Thailand and UAE were both unbeaten throughout the tournament so it was appropriate for them to be declared joint winners of this event.
Thailand’s Aphisara Suwanchonrathi was named player of the tournament after scoring 196 runs and winning four player of the match awards.
Less than an hour’s play was possible after UAE had won the toss and elected to bat first. Captain Samaira Dhamidharka hit three fours in the first over after which Thailand turned to spin.
The effect was immediate as the bowlers took control and UAE were struggling with six wickets down when the rain became too heavy.
Thailand’s girls could be proud of their splendid efforts in this tournament and they should face UAE again in the regional qualifiers for the Women’s U19 World Cup.
