THAILAND LOSE TO USA AND CANNOT QUALIFY FOR WORLD CUP
Thailand had a disappointing day in Nepal as they lost to USA by 28 runs to suffer their fourth defeat in a row and they can no longer qualify for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Onnicha Kamchomphu bowled well to take 3 for 16 but USA recovered from 62 for 5 thanks to some powerful lower-order hitting as they reached 128 before being bowled out in 19.5 overs. Catches were dropped as USA hit out strongly.
The match was effectively decided when Natthakan Chantham was lbw third ball to the impressive left-arm seamer Tara Norris.
Nannapat Khoncharoenkai (28) and Naruemol Chaiwai (31) made contributions but there were too few runs scored down the order once again as Thailand reached 100 in 19 overs.
USA still have a chance to qualify if they beat Scotland but Thailand can only hope for a confidence-boosting victory against Ireland.
