THAILAND REACH SUPER SIX BUT LOSE TO NETHERLANDS
Thailand lost to Netherlands by 17 runs so finished third in Group B behind Netherlands and Scotland as the global qualifier of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Nepal reached the end of the group stage.
Thailand have reached the Super Six and will now face matches against Bangladesh, Ireland and USA but they fell 17 runs short of Netherlands’ total of 107 for 8.
Phanita Maya took two early wickets to reduce Netherlands to 20 for 3 and Sunida Chaturongtattana claimed 3 for 24.
But Thailand lost two wickets in the first over bowled by Iris Zwilling and a recovery launched by Natthakan Chantam and Naruemol Chaiwai was cut short by the pace of Isabel van der Woning who took 4 for 14.
Thailand now face a stiff task if they are to qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as they have no points to carry through to the Super Six.
