SCOTLAND GAIN THEIR REVENGE OVER THAILAND

Thailand faced Scotland in Kathmandu today in the Qualifier for the T20 World Cup and the Thai girls would have had memories of their victory over the same opponents in Bangkok when they won the ICC Women’s Emerging Trophy. But it was Scotland who gained their revenge as they achieved victory by five wickets to move to second place in Group B behind leaders Netherlands while Thailand dropped to third.

Thailand got off to a disastrous start losing both openers with only five runs on the board but captain Naruemol Chaiwai has played a great innings to rescue her side by making an unbeaten 73 from 55 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes as 18 runs came off the last over to take Thailand to 118 for 6.

Thailand claimed two early wickets but Katherine Fraser made 41 before becoming one of Suleeporn Laomi’s three wickets but Sarah Bryce sealed a comfortable win for Scotland by reaching her fifty with a six as Scotland revived their hopes after losing to Netherlands at the start of the tournament.

The top three teams will make it to the Super Six stage but Thailand will be hoping to beat Netherlands in their final group match to make sure of qualifying and so they can take points through to the next stage.
