THAILAND WIN GOLD IN WOMEN’S T10 CRICKET

The fourth day of the SEA Games Thailand 2025 saw Thailand playing for a gold medal against Indonesia in the women’s T10 final at TCG and any doubts that their dominance of cricket in the region would come to an end were dispelled as they won by nine wickets with five overs to spare.

The bronze medal match came first with Malaysia beating Myanmar by 27 runs. Malaysia lost the wicket of their captain in the first over but Mas Elysa saw her side through to a total of 74 for 5 with an unbeaten 31.

Myanmar lost early wickets to slip to 6 for 4 and could not repeat their earlier victory against the same opposition an finished on a total of 47 for 6 with Ainna Hamizah taking 3 for 5.

Malaysia had claimed the bronze medal so now it was the contest that would decide gold and silver. Thailand had beaten Indonesia comfortably in the group match but could they do the same when victory would bring with it a gold medal?

Indonesia won the toss and decided to bat first but Thailand gave their usual disciplined performance in the field as Indonesia could hit only one boundary and suffered two run outs on the way to 40 for six

By contrast Nattaya Boochatham hit the first four balls of the innings to the boundary and after she was out Natthakan Chantam and Nannapat Khonchaeronkai effortlessly saw Thailand home to victory by nine wickets with five overs to spare.

Thailand won their sixth gold medal in women’s cricket at the SEA Games and the celebrations could begin.

Thailand men could not live up to the high standards set by the women as they lost to Malaysia by eight wickets at AIT leaving Malaysia at the top of the men’s T20 table with three wins while Thailand are at the bottom with three defeats.

It was a one-sided contest as Thailand were dismissed for 62 with Syed Aziz finishing off the innings with 3 for 6. Malaysia needed just 5.4 overs to claim victory with Muhammad Haziq hitting three sixes in his 22.

Indonesia had both already recorded one win so far in the men’s T20 competition but it was Singapore who came out on top in a close contest as they won by 3 wickets in the first match of the day.

Gede Arta top scored with 32 in Indonesia’s total of 151 for 9 while Neil Karnik and Aslan Jafri each collected three wickets. Raoul Sharma took Singapore to a last-over victory with an unbeaten 38 despite the efforts of Indonesia’s Gamantika and Artawan withe ball.

The fourth day of SEA Games 2025 will be remembered for Thailand’s gold medal in the women’s T10 event but day five will see the medals decided in men’s T20 cricket. Malaysia are the favourites for the gold medal but will Philippines be able to win a surprise silver?
