DAY 4- THAILAND WOMENS T20 SMASH 2019

The four semi-finalists in the Thailand Women’s T20 Smash have been decided with a day still to go in the group stages as wins for UAE and Thailand meant that four teams had all recorded three victories to give them six points each. In Group A, UAE were back to winning ways as they beat Malaysia by 77 runs to draw level with Nepal who had surprised UAE the day before.
In Group B it was expected that Thailand would have their hardest test of the tournament so far as they faced Indonesia who had won all three of their matches. Instead Thailand were extremely impressive as Nattaya Boochatham scored 56 in 44 balls as the hosts made 125 for 3 in their 20 overs. Chanida Sutthiruang then produced an outstanding opening spell as she hit the stumps three times and gained two lbws as she returned figures of 5 for 4 in her 4 overs. Indonesia were bowled out for just 32 as Thailand were emphatic winners by 93 runs.

Nepal and UAE qualify for the top four from Group A while Thailand and Indonesia qualify from Group B but the final round of group matches can still affect who finishes first and second in each group. The other teams still have much to play for as there will be two rounds of play-offs to decide who finishes in fifth to eighth places and the players from Thailand A and Myanmar will be excited tonight as both teams recorded their first victories of the competition. Myanmar beat Bhutan by seven wickets and Thailand A defeated China by five wickets.
