TANZANIA DEFEAT HONG KONG TO SEAL SECOND PLACE IN ASEAN WOMEN’S T20

Tanzania have travelled a long way to take part in the Asean Women’s T20 Open Tournament and they have impressed throughout competition, losing only to champions Thailand. By beating Hong Kong by 24 runs on the last day they made certain of finishing second in the table as they won their fourth match out of five to reach eight points. Tanzania’s captain Monica Pascal has had an outstanding tournament with both bat and ball and she made sure her team finished on a high as she batted through the 20 overs to score 45 and then returned figures of 3 for 13 in her 4 overs. Tanzania were able to score 110 for 3 but, despite the efforts of Mariko Hill, who scored 26 in 42 balls, and a late flourish from Ka Ying Chan who hit four boundaries in her 32*, Hong Kong finished on 86 for 7. The Hong Kong team only won one match out of five but they did it in memorable fashion by beating Malaysia in a Super Over.
